The exe file should be clean, but there is always some risk…
If you and/or your security software is uneasy, delete the exe file from the plugin, and download exiftool yourself (search for “exiftool download” – Phil Harvey is the author). ExifMeta can be configured to work with your downloaded version:
Click ‘Advanced Settings’ and if its not already there, add the line:
_t.exiftool = {path-to-your-exiftool.exe or exiftool.app}
Where {path-to-your-exiftool.exe or exiftool.app} is replaced by the actual name or path.
After the line: _t.{}
(I should have made it more obvious like I did in other plugins – sorry: I may have an update by the time you read this...)
I just added these lines to the default configuration file (not yet released): --[[ ExifTool executable
Instructions: - set to 'nil' (without the apostrophes) to use default exiftool included with plugin. - or set to name (if registered in "path") or complete path to .exe file or .app file of self-downloaded version of Phil Harvey's exiftool. --]] _t.exiftool = nil
Or, perhaps a simpler solution: just replace the exiftool.exe file in the lrplugin dir with your own and be done with it. But be careful upon next update if you choose this approach.
