When I click on Check for Update the Lightroom Plugin Manager, it says that I have ExifMeta 3.8.4 and that 3.8.5 is available for download. After I download 3.8.5 onto my MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.8, I click Update Plugin and navigate to the newly created directory RC_ExifMeta_LrPlugin_3.8.5, containing the license, readme, and ExifMeta.lrplugin files. The ExifMeta.lrplugin file is grayed out, so I can't highlight it and choose it. What should I do?

I just tried to reproduce the problem, but it worked OK for me, so I've no clue just yet. I'll be out of town for a couple days and will look into it again upon return.
If there is any additional info that you think might help trouble-shoot, do tell...
Anybody else having, or not having this trouble?

I have the same experience. Am waiting for some free time to debug the folder selection code.
I run Lightroom on a Mac now running Lion but had the same issue under Snow Leopard. The other plugins that offer updating through the Plugin Manager also exhibit the same behavior.

Folder selection code should be fixed in ExifMeta v4.0.
